Hello everyone, my name is Yama because my foster family let me pick my own name! It means mountain in Japanese, and I love it! I was rescued from a PA puppy mill with 2 other female Shibas. I am a young cream male Shiba Inu. DC SIR wasn’t told why I was released to rescue. It is unusual for a young male to be released. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I was happy to sniff everything in the yard. I got along with all the dogs at Shiba HQ, and I am such a sweet and gentle boy. I was a good boy while getting my nails trimmed and bath. I could only stay at Shiba HQ one night because there are 3 other unspayed Shibas, and our spay/neuters couldn’t be scheduled until February. But that night at Shiba HQ, I had a seizure. DCSIR figured that is why the Mill released a young male. DC SIR has a nutritional protocol to help with seizures, so we hope I get better before my first vet appointment. The next day I left for my foster home, where I live with an older DC SIR alum Shiba. She has so many toys for me to play with. I tried one out, and it made a loud squeak sound! It scared me at first since I never played with anything like that before. It was so fun that I pulled out ALL the toys. My foster family walked me around my new neighborhood, and I wanted to smell everything. I was so excited to go on a walk that I wanted to run, but I learned I needed to slow down for my foster fursister. I’m getting better at walking. I sleep in an xpen at night because they want to keep me safe if I have a seizure. My fursister sleeps in the same room as me, & I get sad when she leaves. I’ll bark for her to come back. I hope to be healthy & adopted soon so, please watch my story!
