Red is a 3 year old female red Shiba Inu. Follow her Facebook album.
Hello everyone, my name is Red because it is the nickname my foster mom gave me the first day, and I have already learned it. I was rescued from a PA puppy mill the same day that 3 other Shibas were released from another PA mill. I am a young 3-year-old female Shiba Inu. Luckily, DC SIR came to rescue me because I wasn’t producing puppies for the mill. I was scared on the long car ride back to Shiba HQ, and I didn’t eat any of the boiled chicken my foster mom gave me. When I arrived at Shiba HQ, I got to explore the yard on my own. I stayed away from the volunteer because I don’t have many reason to trust people. When the other mill dogs arrived, I put my tail up and happily greeted them! I got to meet the resident dogs at Shiba HQ, too, which made me happy. I didn’t come up to the people giving all the other mill dogs boiled chicken, but they left small bowls of it near me while exploring the yard, and I felt safe enough to eat it then. My foster mom had to trap me on the deck and take me for a shower because I was dirty and stinky. I wasn’t a fan of the shower, but I didn’t protest, and I was cleaned, and my nails were trimmed fairly quickly. I haven’t had any accidents in the home, and I know how to use the doggie door and the stairs. I happily sleep in my open xpen each night. I spend a lot of time outside exploring the yard, but when my foster family is quietly reading, I will explore the house and even sniff them (if they don’t move). I am more fearful of people than the other mill pups, but I am so thankful to be free! Please let DC SIR know if you think we could be together forever!
