Ran-naa is an 8-year-old female cream Shiba Inu. Follow her Facebook album.

Hello everyone, my name is now Ran’na, and it means ‘runner’ in Japanese. I am an 8-year-old female, Shiba Inu. I have lived with my family since I was 5-years-old, but their life circumstances had changed when they moved into a new place by a busy road. You see, I am a door bolter, and they think this new place will be too dangerous for me. I am a small Shiba Inu at 18 lbs, but I am a bit overweight for my size. I lived with another dog ok most of the time, but we got into some heavy fights, so I should be the only pet in the home. I am not too bad just meeting or passing other dogs, but I prefer not to live with them, and I’ll chase cats too.

When it comes to meeting people and kids, I just love everyone! I enjoy pets, and I will run up to friendly strangers to give kisses and receive pets. When the DC SIR volunteer came to pick me up, I happily greeted her and let her handle me and pick me up. I rode well in the car, but I was nervous and panted a bit. When I got to Shiba HQ, I explored the yard on my own and galloped around, following the DC SIR volunteer. You may notice a patch of fur missing on my hind leg. My owners said I might have a bug bite, but it could be a hot spot too. DC SIR will monitor this and let you know. Otherwise, I have been a healthy Shiba Inu with no medical issues. I’m just a bit overweight from too many yummy treats. After some time, I got to meet a friendly DC SIR foster dog, Aika. She came to sniff me in my face, and I growled at her to let her know I needed space. She backed off right away, so I felt ok to go back and sniff her. I did well meeting her, but it is obvious I should be the only dog. That just means more love for me! I do look for comfort from the DC SIR volunteers and tr to snuggle in their lap for comfort. I also really love neck scratches. I am still nervous in this new place and waiting for my foster parents to pick me up. I will be the only pet in my foster home, and they will give you updates on my progress in rescue. I should be available for adoption after my 2-week health and temperament assessment, so follow my story!

UPDATE

Ran-naa is a sweet 8-year-old female Shiba Inu who lost her home for the second time when she came into our Rescue. She was so timid and fearful when we first picked her up. Ran-naa is obviously a sensitive Shiba who bonds closely with her people. We are overjoyed that Ran-naa won’t have to go through another stressful transition. Yesterday, Ran-naa’s foster parents adopted her! If you have followed our Instagram page you will see how much Ran-naa loves her parents and gives the full Shiba howl, shaky butt, and squinty eyes when they come home! Please join us in congratulating our sweet Ran-naa on finding her forever home and welcome her pawrents to the DC SIR family!
