My foster parents are calling me Koko because that’s the first name that came to mind when they saw my sweet, cherubic face. I was rescued from a commercial breeding facility with 31 other Shibas, 12 of which came to DCS IR. I spent my first few days watching and listening to everything, and I still do! My foster parents have been spending a lot of time in my xpen with me, and when they do, I just sit and watch, watch, watch. Sometimes I’m brave and offer a sniff. My foster mom was with me so long last night that I eventually put my head down to rest. My xpen, where I sleep, has two big, fluffy blankets and a cozy bed, but I choose to sleep on the hard floor because that’s what I’m used to. My foster parents tried to trick me and layer the blankets under the base layer cloth of my xpen, but I’m too smart for them and decided to dig it all up so I could sleep on the floor again! I am living with two dogs and two cats. So far, I’ve only met DC SIR alum Kai, who is as confident as can be in her house. I will meet the other dog later when I am more settled in. My foster parents hope that Kai and her brother will help show me that I am safe! I perk up when I see Kai! I’ve been eating well but prefer when my parents leave my food or yummy boiled chicken treats for me to eat in private. So far, it’s been rainy and cold at my new house, but I still like being outside best. I trot around more confidently outside, and sometimes I even put my tail up to show how happy I am! My foster mom thinks I’ll love to play with toys when I learn how. She showed me how fun it is to squeak a toy, and it makes my ears perk up every time! I’ve only nosed the toy so far, but one day soon, I hope to have the confidence to try it myself! Like all the mill dogs, I will need full medical care before adoption! Be sure to follow me!
