Hello everyone, my name is now Kohana, and it means ‘little flower’ in Japanese. I am a 3-year-old female Shiba Inu. I have only ever lived with one family my whole life, but I kept escaping my home and yard. They were worried for my safety, so they found DC SIR and felt comfortable trusting them to find me a loving forever home. I weigh about 23 lbs and I am packed with personality and ready for adventure. When my owner put me into my foster mom’s car, I was too scared to even take treats. I didn’t understand what was going on. I was also pretty scared on the drive to the foster home. I curled up under the seat and tried to hide. But once we got there it was game on for adventure. My last home didn’t have any dogs for me to play with, but I did have kitty friends who were really fun. I did great during my dog assessment and so far in my foster home, I am getting along with my new foster siblings. When I arrived, I took some time to explore the yard and then I got to meet my three foster sisters! I always wanted sisters. We’re having a ball! I love having friends to play with me! Next, I went inside to scope out the house. I picked out a nice comfortable bed and shared all my toys with my foster sisters. I really enjoy relaxing by the door in the kitchen and watching the world outside. As you may have noticed, I have a bit of an underbite. I think this just helps to give me even more character than I already have! You might as well go ahead and admit you are in love with my cute face already! Since I have been known to run away, or as I like to think of it, “go exploring,” I will need a home who will be able to make sure all doors and yards are secure. While I don’t see my exploring as an issue, others may not agree. DC SIR says I will need the standard two-week assessment period for my health and behavior. I hope to find a loving family to give me a forever home and take me on lots of adventures! So what are you waiting for? Let’s go!
