Hello everyone, my name is now Kobe, after a Japanese city. I am a 9-year-old, male Shiba Inu. I had only one owner my whole life, but they gave me away when they had children. I’ve been living with a family for a couple of months who previously had Akitas, but they took me to the shelter last week because they became allergic to me. I was so scared and shook all over. A nice woman at the shelter could see I was terrified and she called DC SIR right away. While waiting in the lobby to be surrendered to the shelter, the woman was able to get DC SIR to commit to taking me, and my family took me home until DC SIR could take me. I was so relieved that my family didn’t leave me alone in that scary place.

A week later, I was put in a crate on a transport with a couple of other senior Shibas. We had a long drive from Virginia beach to Shiba HQ. I cried in the car because I didn’t know what was going to happen to me. Would I go back to the shelter? I was relieved to see that I was going into a home. I got to explore the yard at Shiba HQ with the other senior Shibas. Soon I met the other dogs, and they seemed happy here, so I become more relaxed. Soon my foster mom carried me up to the shower. I’m a big boy at 40+ lbs and need to lose some weight. I was a good boy in the shower and only squealed a bit. I was so relieved to have my painfully long nails trimmed so that it no longer hurts to walk on them. After my bath, I felt good and did some zoomies. I got to meet the cats again, and my foster mom says I have a great personality. I was still nervous in my new place, but my foster mom took the time to comfort me and tell me everything was going to be ok. I got to cuddle with her on the couch and got massages to make me feel better. My fur is dry, but DC SIR said I’ll get better fast on a balanced raw diet! DC SIR will tell you more about my personality as they get to know me, so please follow my rescue journey and share my story to help me find a real forever home!
