Adoption status: Adopted!
Kiyoshi is a male cream 9 -yr-old Shiba Inu.

Hello everyone, my new name is now Kiyoshi and it means, ‘pure’ in Japanese. I am a 9-year-old, male cream Shiba Inu. I lost my family due to their health problems. I was adopted out by another rescue over a year ago but they weren’t able to take me back so DC SIR volunteered to bring me into their family and find me a loving foster home where I could thrive. DC SIR was told that before being adopted the past year, I did great with most dogs and lived in a multi-dog foster home. I didn’t get along with one of the dogs there, otherwise, they weren’t so bad. Things have changed in the past year and I no longer get along with other dogs. I do love cats! Oh boy, they are just great. Sometimes, I think I’m just a real big cat! I lived with a cat for the past year and we got along great!

DC SIR was told that I have mild allergies, I am an escape artist, and that I don’t like to be separated from people. I will cry so that I can be with people. I do love people – as much as I love cats!

I was on a really long transport with other dogs to get to DC SIR. I was the first dog on the pick up and didn’t mind the ride at all. But when other dogs got in the car I growled and barked at them. When I got to Shiba HQ, I initially lunged at the other dogs. My foster mom was already there to pick me up. I got to spend some quality time with her while the other dogs got cleaned up. She had yummy treats so I really warmed up to her fast. I was super interested in all the smells and toys. I love it when she called my new name in a sing-song voice and I happily pranced over for treats and pets. I love attention and nuzzled the volunteer and foster to let them know I needed comfort. Soon I left Shiba HQ and I didn’t growl or react when I passed all the dogs again. The volunteer had to carry me out (I’m a big boy but I loved being carried) to avoid all the dogs. I’m going to be living with a cat at my foster home, so I’ll let you know how that goes. I’m very alert and playful. I hope you don’t let my keep you from applying to adopt me. I really want a forever home that will love me for the rest of my life! Please share my story to help me find my perfect home!
