Hello everyone, my name is now Jin, which means benevolence in Japanese. I am an 8-year-old, male cream, Shiba Inu. I had only one owner my whole life, where I lived outdoors with my brother, Kanji. My owners were older and could no longer care for us, so we went to a WV shelter and were later transferred to a VA shelter. My brother and I were quickly adopted out but were returned to the shelter a week later when DC SIR got the chance to pull us. I thrived in DC SIR’s foster care and was adopted out for a week before I was returned to DC SIR. My owner noted I started to have accidents in the house, and I was stressed out in his home. DC SIR quickly took me back.

I have been back with my fosters for ten days, and I am so happy. My fosters said I had had zero accidents in the home, and I am not stressed out. DC SIR wants to point out that our foster homes are required to bond and move slowly with rescues that we can feel safe and bond. They took this time to see if I would exhibit severe issues in the 10 days before announcing my return. While I haven’t shown any of the issues from the reason I was returned, it doesn’t mean that I won’t be stressed in new situations. DC SIR thinks I need a Shiba-savvy home that is willing to take the time to help me adjust to a new home. They should be willing to hire a trainer to show them how to bond and help a rescue adjust to their new strange home. I will need to bond to my adopters first and not explore the world until I am secure with my new owners. They should make me feel safe and give me choices not to do things I find scary. The good news was I did walk very well on the leash in the city and my adopter and my fosters said I am doing much better on walks. Do you think you have the right family to give me a secure forever home? I am still a big jumper and can be an escape artist. I love to cuddle, and I will sit on your lap and nudge you for attention when I want to feel secure. Please tell DC SIR if you are interested in adopting me!
