Jae is a lovely mature Jindo who wants nothing more than to be the center of someone's world. Jae has had a hard life of breeding for someones profit. She was dumped in a GA shelter while pregnant with her other daughters. One died in the shelter. But she made it out and is ready to be loved and enjoy a life of leisure. She is laid-back, loves people and is a good listener. She is housebroken. Jae is sweet and loving with humans but she would do best as an only dog (no homes with dogs or cats, please). Please consider giving her a furever home.

From Hopelessness to Hope
by DC SIR

Hi, my name is Jae. I’m an adult female Jindo, and I’d like to tell you a story that happens all too often. It’s my story, and it does not have a happy beginning. I was being kept at a puppy mill in Georgia, and my owners forced me to have litters of puppies so they could sell them. Time after time I watched as my babies were taken away from me and sold to anyone who was willing to pay. Eventually my owners decided they didn’t want to sell my babies anymore, and dumped me and two of my daughters at a local shelter.

The shelter was an awful place. It was cold and dark, and it smelled really bad. I did not have a bed to sleep on, so I was forced to sleep on a cold, concrete floor. One of my daughters was so scared that the shelter workers took her away, and I never saw her again. I’m pretty sure they put her to sleep, since I heard them saying that they were “sorry” and hoped to not have to do the same thing to me or my other daughter. Soon after, they took my other daughter away, and said that she had been adopted. What we all soon learned, though, was that I was pregnant, and about to give birth to two puppies.

So here I was, about to give birth in a cold, lonely shelter. I wondered what would become of my new children.. would they have a chance at a happy life? Or were they doomed to live out their lives in a cage at the shelter? Would they ever know the loving touch of a human being, or would they die on a cold concrete floor? I wanted something so much better for them. I wanted them to have loving homes where they could run and play and be spoiled, as I never had been. I suppose every mother wants that for her children. But as the days passed, I doubted that it could ever happen. I was so scared and alone. And eventually, the day came. I gave birth to a beautiful boy and a gorgeous girl. They were more precious to me than I could ever have imagined.

Little did I know, but word had spread about my situation and the wonderful people at DC Shiba Inu Rescue heard about my plight. They did not want my puppies to grow up in a cage, and so they rescued me and my children and brought me to a loving foster home.

Finally, I could love and care for my babies in the warmth of a home. I was given a bed, and fluffy blankets so that I could nurse my puppies in comfort. It was as if a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders. My foster mom was so kind, I finally knew what it meant to be loved.

My wonderful puppies thrived in our foster home, and they grew so quickly! The time came for them to be adopted into incredible, loving forever homes, and the kind souls at DC Shiba Inu Rescue found terrific homes for them both. They had granted a mother’s greatest wish. That her children would live better lives and would have more than she ever had.

I can sleep peacefully at night knowing that my babies are safe and loved. But I am still waiting to find my forever home. I have been through so much in my short life. All I need now is a special place that I can call my own. Even though I can’t have any more puppies, I have so much love to give and just want someone to love me for who I am.

I have told you my story because I want you to know that my story is not unique, but it is unique to me. I know that, although I am not a puppy, I am still beautiful in my own special way. My story may not have had a happy beginning, but I know it can have a happy ending. I hope with all my might that someone will find it in their heart to love and care for me. And who knows, that person may even be you, who is reading this right now.

Hopefully yours,

Jae
