Hikari is a 5 yr old, male, black & tan Shiba Inu. See his Facebook album.
Hello everyone, my new name is now Hikari and it means “light” in Japanese. I am a 5-year-old male Shiba Inu! I moved to a rural area with my mom and they didn’t have a fence so they put me in a shock collar. I didn’t like it much and I ran away a lot. Even when they turned up the shock, I would just keep running away and chasing cars. My family thought it would best if I went to a Shiba-savvy home so they reached out to DC SIR. I’m glad because they promise I’ll never have to wear a shock collar again! I lived with 2 other dogs, an older lab and a puppy my mom and her fiancé bought last October so I do very well with other dogs. I also got along great with the outdoor cat. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I rode very well in the car with the DC SIR volunteers. I was happy to meet the volunteers in the yard and get their yummy treats! Oh my goodness!!! Those treats are sooo good! After I got to explore the yard, the volunteers let out the friendly dogs one at a time. This didn’t take long because they could see how well I did with everyone! I was playing with my two new Shiba friends. I even took treats with the group. The treats were so good I stole them right out of the other dog’s mouth! I know I shouldn’t do that but they were so yummy. I also ran with and chased the dogs at Shiba HQ! DC SIR thinks I could do great in a home with other friendly pets! My new foster home will be coming to pick me up. I’ll be an only dog in an apartment so DC SIR will tell you how I do in that environment. They can tell you that I am very active and that I love to run! DC SIR says I am a very sweet boy and they think a lot of people will want to adopt me into their home because I’m so cute and friendly. Please share my story so I can find my perfect forever home! If you think you could be my forever family, fill out an application and send it to adoption@dcsir.org. I look forward to meeting you!
