Hello everyone, my name is now Harumi, and it means ‘spring beauty’ in Japanese. I am a 10-year-old, female Shiba Inu. I was a breeder release from a Florida family with 5 other Shiba Inus. I’ve lived my whole life with other dogs, and DC SIR says I am a sweet and gentle lady. When a family member passed, and we were no longer being bred, I was sent in transport to Shiba HQ. We arrived at Shiba HQ late at night and got to explore the yard, drink water, and have potty breaks before heading inside. I was so exhausted that I just laid down in the dirt. The volunteer quickly picked me up and took me to a warm, soft bed. I was so thirsty that I drank an entire bowl of water all by myself. I then was offered some warm bone broth, and I drank all that too! I slept through the night in a private area with a couple of my friends, Subaru and Yume. When I woke in the morning, the volunteer carried me outside for another potty break. She noticed then that I was limping on my front left paw. They think I may have injured on transport, but the vet will look at me tomorrow. Since my fur was dirty, I was bathed first thing in the morning and got to dry near a warm heater until the sun came out. I enjoyed walking outside in the sun, but I found my way back inside to my private room and curled up for an early nap while the other dogs played in the yard. I was shaking a lot. This new life is very different from what I am used to. I’ve only ever known one home and world, and I don’t know what to expect. I’m told DC SIR is a force-free rescue so I won’t ever get yelled at or punished since they set up all their foster dogs to succeed. I am a gentle and sensitive older lady who would love a home that will give me comfort and love. DC SIR paid for me to get vetted in Florida, but I have to go into surgery tomorrow for my spay. So much has changed for me this past week and I am nervous and unsure. DC SIR promised that I will be loved and comforted in rescue until I find my pawfect forever home. Could that be your home?
