Hi everyone, my name is Yuki which means snow in Japanese. I can’t tell you where I came from, but I am now living in a shelter with other kennel mates. Being in the shelter has been heaven compared to living on the street as a stray, and I’m so grateful the shelter took me. I thought my family loved me because they gave me a microchip for permanent identification. I can only assume they grew tired of me in my senior years because that act of love was replaced with neglect when they left it unregistered and didn’t care for my basic needs. I am really a sweet girl, but right now I am in horrible shape and DC SIR said I will need a lot of medical care before I can find a real forever home. My body aches, my nails are painfully long, I have cataracts, and I will need MASSIVE dental work. I try to be strong and smile a lot, but I am really trying to hide all the stress I’ve endured trying to live on the streets and sleep in a shelter for the past 2 weeks. When I heard that DC SIR was coming to rescue me, it was like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. The shelter staff has also been very nice and have taken me to the clinic for dental estimates. They are taking good care of me in preparation for my transport to live in a DC SIR foster home where I will get all the medical treatment I need. All I want is to know the comforts of a forever home. Will you help me?Yuki is in need of expensive medical care, including dental work and cataract treatment. The shelter is providing some care for DC SIR because they receive a discount through the county vet clinic. This will help DC SIR tremendously and we will pay in full this Friday, but eye care treatment from a specialist is anticipated to be costly. Please consider making a small donation. You can donate on PayPal to dcshibainurescue@gmail.com or write a check to DC Shiba Inu Rescue. If you write a check, please message us on Facebook or at Rescue@dcsir.org for a mailing address. We are 100% relying on fan donations to cover costs while searching for grants to help with ongoing care. Thank you for saving Yuki and helping her to have a second chance at a forever home.
